1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how PDF Studio: Editor and Tools (“PDF Studio,” “we,” “our”) handles information when you use the Android app. Features may include PDF viewing, editing, merging, splitting, compression, conversion, scanning, OCR, annotations, forms, visual signatures, file organization, printing and related tools.
PDF operations are designed to run on your device where supported. If you choose to share a file with another app, printer, computer or external service, that recipient may process it under its own policies. The app may also use third-party services for ads, purchases, optional usage analytics and optional crash diagnostics.
2. Documents, files and permissions
- File access: When you select, open, save, scan or share a file, the app may access the file you selected through Android's file picker, camera or applicable storage APIs.
- Document content: PDF contents, extracted text, filenames, file paths, annotations, form values, signatures and passwords are not intended to be uploaded for our own cloud PDF processing or added to custom analytics/crash logs.
- Camera: Camera access is used when you choose a scanning or camera-based feature.
- OCR and machine learning: Some features may rely on Google Play services or model downloads. Background removal may require a first-use model download, internet access and compatible Play services.
- Printing and sharing: If you send a file to a printer, share target, cloud drive, email app or another destination, that destination's privacy practices apply.
Files saved locally may remain until you delete them, clear app data or uninstall the app, subject to Android storage behavior and copies you exported or shared.
3. Advertising and consent
The app may show ads through Google Mobile Ads. Ads are excluded from certain sensitive workflows, including scanning, signing, password protection/unlocking, form filling, annotation and redaction, according to the owner's current report. Ads may be hidden for Premium users, when required consent is unavailable, or when an ad does not load.
Google's advertising SDK may process device and advertising-related information, identifiers, app interactions, diagnostics and other data according to SDK configuration, device settings, applicable law and consent choices. We do not claim advertising data is anonymous.
The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) for applicable consent messages and privacy choices. Advertising consent is separate from usage-statistics and crash-diagnostics choices.
4. Optional usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)
Firebase Analytics is included in the app. According to the owner's current implementation report, Analytics collection is off by default. Users can enable it using “Share usage statistics” in Settings → Privacy. If enabled, Analytics may process standard usage information such as screens viewed, sessions and an app-instance identifier to help understand app usage and improve the product.
This choice is separate from advertising consent and Crashlytics consent. The owner must verify exact events, identifiers and SDK behavior in the production build and reflect them in Google Play's Data safety form.
5. Optional crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics)
Firebase Crashlytics is intended to be off by default and enabled only after explicit opt-in through the app's privacy setting. The owner reports that users can later opt out and that the choice persists across restarts.
If enabled, Crashlytics may receive crash reports, stack traces, app/device technical information, app version and diagnostic context. The app is intended not to add PDF contents, extracted text, filenames, absolute paths, content URIs, passwords, credentials, purchase tokens, signatures, form contents, annotations or sensitive document metadata to custom crash logs or keys.
Turning collection off does not delete reports already received by Firebase. Handling of reports queued before consent depends on the actual SDK configuration and behavior.
6. Subscriptions and purchases
The app may offer optional subscriptions or paid features through Google Play, including plans intended to remove ads. Google Play processes transactions and provides purchase status to the app. The app may process purchase status and entitlement information to determine feature access; payment details are handled by Google Play and its payment infrastructure.
Prices, billing periods, renewal, cancellation and plan benefits are shown at purchase time. Manage or cancel subscriptions through Google Play. Purchase tokens and other sensitive billing credentials are not intended to be written to crash logs.
7. PC-to-phone transfer and external sharing
Development work has included a local-network PC-to-phone transfer feature. The owner must confirm whether it is included in the production release. If enabled, it may exchange files between your phone and a computer you authorize on your local network. Use it only with trusted devices and networks and follow the pairing and approval prompts.
8. Security and retention
We use safeguards implemented in the app and supporting services, but no device, network or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Local files generally remain until deleted, app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled, subject to Android behavior and copies shared elsewhere. Third-party providers determine retention for data they receive under their policies.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
- Manage app permissions in Android Settings.
- Use available advertising consent and privacy controls.
- Keep Analytics off or enable/disable it through Settings → Privacy, as available in your version.
- Keep Crashlytics off or opt in and later opt out using the app's privacy control.
- Delete local files, clear app data or uninstall the app as appropriate.
- Manage purchases and subscriptions through Google Play.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights to access, correct, delete or otherwise control personal data. Contact the owner with a privacy request; do not include passwords or sensitive document contents in an initial message.
10. Children
The app is a general-purpose document utility and is not designed specifically for children. The owner should confirm the intended audience, age rating and applicable child-privacy obligations before release.
11. Third-party services and international processing
Google Play, Google Mobile Ads, UMP, Firebase Analytics (if enabled), Firebase Crashlytics (if opted in), Google Play services and other services you choose may process information under their own policies and in locations outside your country. Providers and processing locations depend on the final configuration.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when app features, services or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted with a revised date and, where appropriate, notice may be provided in the app.
